Give Austin a 3 on the Sagamore Bridge so he can make it into a sword

The Issue

The Sagamore Bridge has been one of the two staples that connect Cape Cod to the paper that is Massachusetts since 1935. However, since 1997, a boy named Austin has driven over that very same bridge and thought “those 3s on that plaque look like cool swords. I want one.” Given that the Sagamore Bridge and Bourne Bride are both being torn down soon, the plaque and the letters/numbers that make it up are likely to be placed in storage until the end of time, or worse, melted down and used in the new bridge, lost forever. Allowing a life long resident of Cape Cod to own a piece of the history (and turning it into a cool sword) I feel is a much more substantial way to keep the spirit of Cape Cod alive.

Some points to make:

-Between all the characters on the Sagamore and Bourne Bridges four plaques, there are 16 characters that would make decent swords, those being the 3s and 5s Giving up one for the sake of a cool sword just makes sense.

-One of the most important aspects of Cape Cod history is the many ships wrecked on our shores, including at least one confirmed pirate ship, and has led to millions in tourism and merchandising every year. What better way to celebrate this aspect of our history than to make cool swords?

-The traffic created by the repairs to the bridge year round has caused more grief to both residents and tourists since the bridges were first built. Doing something fun and interesting with the bridge before/after it is demolished would help drum up morale before the traffic inevitably gets worse during construction.

-The swords will be cool

-I will make the sword myself, no taxpayer money necessary!
