We, as a community, have seen way too many motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians in the Town of Lockport, NY. I think we can all agree something needs to be done to address this issue. I, and many others, have noticed a huge problem is that many of our streets are too dark due to a lack of street lights.

There have been studies that suggest proper street lighting can "reduce road traffic accidents, injuries and fatalities." Street lights have also "been suggested to be a low cost intervention with the potential to prevent traffic crashes." This petition is to urge our town and county officials to add street lights to the streets that are clearly problem areas. These streets are, and are not limited to, Dysinger Rd., Rapids Rd and Snyder Dr.
