Support Redevelopment & Revitalization in Hyde Park, NY!
The Issue
We need your support to move this project forward. Last year, Nicolas Dibrizzi and Nick Citera, owners of Cosimo's Restaurant Group, purchased the former “Grand Union Plaza” in an effort to revitalize the center of the Town of Hyde Park through careful redevelopment of this blighted site, which has been vacant for more than 10 years.
Over the past several months, they have been presenting the project to the Town of Hyde Park Planning Board. Current plans include removing the former Molloy Pharmacy building and constructing a new, historically and aesthetically designed building for Mavis Tire—a use permitted in the current Zoning Law and would further establish this and the plaza to the south as Retail Service Centers. Sidewalks with lighting and extensive landscaping will physically connect the two properties.
This investment will benefit the residents of Hyde Park as well as the owners of other properties and businesses in the surrounding area. Mr. DiBrizzi and Mr. Citera have worked with the Town in creating a site exceeding the municipal requirements. Recently, however, they attended the first Public Hearing and were met with sharp criticism from outspoken individuals. Unfortunately, little to no support for the project was present.
We are asking for local businesses and community members to come out in support of this project. The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce proudly supports this redevelopment project and we encourage you to do the same!
New York State is difficult enough to do business in and we need to utilize the Chamber as a union of like-minded individuals to support one another for constructive redevelopment. Together we can continue to improve our local economy and encourage reinvestment in the region. Continued road blocking by local government will only keep Hyde Park storefronts empty and buildings abandoned.
Nicolas DiBrizzi and Nick Citera are local business owners with a proven track record of building and maintaining vibrant and energetic retail plazas and businesses, both in Hyde Park and throughout the Hudson Valley. This project will result in the purchase of hundreds of thousands of dollars in local construction materials, the creation of short-term construction and long-term local jobs, as well as increased taxes to the community and school district.
The community needs your support to create jobs and rejuvenate Hyde Park. We have started this petition and are asking you to sign it in support of the proposed plan to update and revitalize this plaza.
We also ask you to attend and/or speak at the upcoming Public Hearing on Wednesday, September 21st at 7 p.m. at the Town of Hyde Park Town Hall, located at 4383 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY.
Please email Nick Citera at ncitera@aol.com or Frank Castella, Jr., President & CEO of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce at frank@dcrcoc.org with questions.
