Elmont Road Park Renovation

The Issue

After years of complaints by residents about the conditions at Elmont Road Park, this online petition is asking Town of Hempstead officials to renovate it. Last year, developers had agreed to fix up the park as part of the Belmont Park redevelopment project, but today its left with no changes.

The park was once the center of the Elmont community, with residents of all ages congregating there to use its sports facilities and playgrounds, or walk on a trail with friends and neighbors. In recent years, however, it has fallen into disrepair, with missing swings, cracked pavement and collapsed fencing. The fields are overgrown and flooded, making it difficult for the children and community of Elmont to play and host recreational sports/tournaments there.

For instance, the basketball courts have not been repaved in 15 years and the fields were more dirt than grass. Additionally, some of the parks sprinkler heads and pipes are exposed.

Currently, in its rough state, this is not a park or community place you would want to bring your kids to. To be frank, the conditions of its fields and courts are disrespectful to the community.

Sign this petition today so we can, restore the worst park in all of New York, to a community center that's safe, updated, and something to be proud of!
