Change the Battle of Pequawket’s Monument

Change the Battle of Pequawket’s Monument
The Issue
The monument located on Lovewell Pond road, in Fryeburg Maine, is worded in a way that praises the colonizers genocide against the Pequawket Tribe. The road itself, Lovewell, was named after one of the colonizers soldiers. This monument may not seem like a big deal, however, the words make a big impact on those using it to learn, inform, or admire. There are very few Native American people in Fryeburg, but there are still some here, and fully aware of the history. It is great to present history in the form of a monument, but the siding with the colonizers is unjustly inaccurate. I ask the town of Fryeburg to take down the monument and/or have one replaced with better, accurate, and informational wording.
