ˌ"Brother can you ˌspare a dime?" is the title of a song written about the Great Depression of the 1930s in the US. In the song, a man who had been rich and respected before the Depression asks people to give him money, as he is now poor. The song has come to represent the sadness and lack of money during the Depression.

This song describes the situation the men who built the Stone House were in during 1934. They couldn't find a job. They had families to feed and they had pride. They just wanted to earn enough money to feed their families. They were proud men.
The result of their labor was the Stone House at Mountain View Cemetery.

Can you spare a dime to save the monument to their tenacity to do what it took to feed their family?
366 people signed the petition (either online or in person) to save the Stone House. If each person gave just $31 we could raise a little over $11,000 to at least put a new roof on the building and secure the building against further deterioration from the elements until we can get Chuck Unroe and the Town Council to stop blocking the grants to restore the entire building.
If you're interested, make a check to Restore The Stone House and mail it to 6401 White Oak Road, Sandston, VA 23150.
If you have any questions, contact me via email at oceanteacher@hotmail.com or fb message at Save The Stone House at Mountain View Cemetery.
Even if you can't contribute the entire $31, any amount will help, no matter the size.
Thanks.
