Isle of Dogs residents started this petition to Tower Hamlets Council

We OBJECT to the scale of development proposed at the ASDA site at 151 East Ferry Road, London E14 3BT on the Isle of Dogs.  The plan above seeks a significant increase in height (15 fixed, 32 stories in outline) and density (maximum 2,015 apartments) without setting out any significant improvements to the infrastructure of the Isle of Dogs which would sustain this increased population.

The current proposal would hugely overwhelm, overshadow and overlook both local 2-4 storey residential communities and the open space, wildlife and farm animals of Mudchute Farm, one of London's largest farms.  The scale and protracted length of the scheme (~9 years) will blight the area with increased traffic generation, vehicular access issues, congestion, highway safety issues, noise, pollution and stress for many years especially alongside other already approved plans on the Island. The plan does not address needed infrastructure to support a plan of this size.  We need a scheme that sits comfortably alongside its neighbours, respects the Mudchute and supports the local community.  This plan unfortunately does none of these things.

Please speak up and tell the Tower Hamlets Council 'enough is enough'. There is a thriving, growing community that lives here on the Isle of Dogs that supports development that supports us.  Let's plan the Island's growth sensibly and set forth an example of good planning.  Let's keep the Island a lovely place to live, learn, work, raise families and visit.

We petition the council to reject the planning application in its current form.

1,000 signatures for the Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee to consider the matter.
2,000 signatures and the petition will be debated by Councillors at a future meeting of the Council.

Individuals signing this petition must be persons living, working or studying in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Please help us reach our signature goals by forwarding this petition on.  Time is of the essence.  The planning application was submitted in November 2019, went live in January 2020 and planning officers are currently reviewing this plan.
