Hi All!

During lockdown I, like many people, found myself doing more exercise than ever. For a while YouTube provided enough to keep me going in my living room, but that ran it’s course and I found myself buying a pair of skates online. Having not skated in 15 years I ended up relearning my old sport at Victoria Park skatepark. Not only is it a hub for kids to keep active and out of trouble, but I have met so many adults like myself getting back into blading, skateboarding or BMXing after years of being a couch potato. 

Now winter is around the corner with rain (and who knows... maybe snow!) For those that don’t know it’s impossible to skate when it’s even a little bit wet. Not only is it slippery and dangerous but water gets into the bearings in your wheels and ruins them very quickly. London has on average 106 rain days per year. So that’s at least 106 days a year the skatepark isn’t being used. 

Even the few indoor skateparks are miles away so are not a substitution. Plus they are shut right now due to COVID. So there really is nowhere else to go. 

If we had a basic roof over the skatepark it would make it possible to continue skating and riding all year round. This would keep this important hub open for play and exercise.
