URGENT signatures needed to STOP the use of animals in Thailand tourism
The issue
Elephants are a national symbol of Thailand. Yet, today, recently released footage from SBS worldnews (24/6/2020) showed Thai elephants being mistreated and abused for animal shows and tours in the tourism industry. This is barbaric and disturbing. Thailand's wildlife tourism needs to stop PERMANENTLY.
As COVID virus restrictions ease and borders open, we fear that abuse against elephants and other animals used in tourism such as crocodiles, tigers and monkeys will be ramped up to make up for financial losses in the tourism industry. More work needs to be done by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thai government to wipe out this barbaric practice.
This petition calls on all Thai and non-Thai citizens to sign, in demonstrating direct pressure against the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Thai government and ELIMINATE Thailand's wildlife tourism industry and RESET the tourism industry. This also means retraining and re-educating mahouts and animal trainers to create a living in other industries.
Almost 200 welfare organisations have contacted the TAT and the Thai government. THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE. It seems that international pressure is necessary.
By signing this petition, you and I are calling for the PERMANENT elimination of animals in Thailand's tourism industry.
Farangs do not travel to Thailand to see animals used in tourism. Animals belong in the wild.
