THE NEEDLESS KILLING OF WILDLIFE CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN

Below is a quick recap of how we've gotten to this point:

  • The City of Wauwatosa needlessly killed innocent wild turkeys with no community input and no prior notice to the public and said the turkey remains were processed and donated to "a local food shelter."
  • The City of Wauwatosa betrayed public trust - a posting on their official website says, "The City of Wauwatosa does not use turkey traps or other animal control devices on turkeys. We encourage residents to let wildlife, including turkeys, to coexist in our urban landscape."
  • In an article posted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the City of Wauwatosa doubled down on their on their killing of innocent wildlife, saying, "We (Wauwatosa) don’t have a turkey policy."
  • The City of Wauwatosa earned special recognition as a "Bird City" for "benefiting birds and other wildlife and helping to build a connection to nature that will show current and future decision makers just how important it is to protect the natural world.”
  • The City of Wauwatosa lied about donating the turkey remains to a local food shelter, enacting a plan to donate the turkey remains only AFTER receiving inquiries about which "local food shelter" they were actually donated to. Nearly a month after the turkeys were killed, the whereabouts of the turkey remains are unknown.

Show up to give voice to the voiceless - the innocent wild turkeys!
