TORONTO CRICKET SKATING AND CURLING CLUB MEMBER SURVEY — PADEL FACILITY EXPANSION
TORONTO CRICKET SKATING AND CURLING CLUB MEMBER SURVEY — PADEL FACILITY EXPANSION
The Issue
Since the opening of the Club’s first padel court last spring, member engagement and court utilization have far exceeded expectations.
The single court is now booked solid for much of the week, and a growing number of members have been expressing strong interest in more court time — along with mounting frustration at how difficult it has become to secure a booking.
Bookings have consistently demonstrated robust, sustained demand, confirming that padel is not a passing trend but a rapidly growing racquet sport reshaping private club athletics globally.
In response to this demand, fellow members are gauging support for additional padel court expansion this summer, sited on the hard courts east of the parking lot, or whatever the board sees fit. With the tennis courts due for resurfacing, this offers a cost-effective installation window, and because padel courts are modular, they can be relocated later under the Club’s future master plan — preserving the investment.
Expanding now would allow the Club to:
- Become the first private club in Canada with a multi-court padel facility on site
- Capitalize on the explosive worldwide growth of padel to drive membership growth and capture market share early — converting surging demand into new member acquisition, stronger retention, and a meaningful new revenue stream for the Club
- Increase member satisfaction through expanded racquet sport offerings
- Attract new members and young families
- Develop youth programming, clinics, and coaching certification opportunities
- Create new sponsorship and advertising revenue
- Reduce pressure on the single existing court and improve access
Padel complements our excellent tennis offerings: it shares many of the same technical and strategic elements, has a lower barrier to entry, and gives members another option when tennis access is limited.
Do you support additional padel court expansion this summer?
