Empower vulnerable girls and women in Mwanza, Tanzania through sponsorship.
The Issue
The aim of the initiative is to empower vulnerable school drop out girls and single teenage mothers with into spiritual formal education, technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills in an effort to increase their productivity and equip them with skills to participate fully in productive activities and employment opportunities.
Our Centre through its various programs seeks to train and empower these vulnerable girls and women. We have been supporting the kids from these vulnerable single teenage mothers and currently the population is 50; 30 girls and 20 boys, but we are convinced that the best sustainable way guarantee the future of these kids is to empower their mothers to support them in future.
The empowerment Centre seeks to train the girls and teenage mothers who are out of school due to their drop out as a result of early pregnancy and poor performance in their national examinations as a result of the Government policy through the Ministry of education which bans any pregnant girl from school and any child who fails final examination from proceeding with their studies. Therefore, there are many girls out of school due to this policy and this further results in the presence of many poor single teenage mothers.
We have proposed a dressmaking project which will help in getting the uniform for children easily and at a cheaper price. It will also be an income-generating for the women for an integrated & sustainable approach to address their financial challenge and nurture children through academics to become responsible citizens of the world. In order to achieve this, we really need the 20 sewing machines both electronic, mechanical, embroidery and overlock sewing machines at a cost of Tsh. 15,940,000 (6,250 EUR-).
