The Sydney Royal Easter Show has always been a beloved tradition, especially for families, but lately it’s becoming less about fun and more about finances. Right now, a family of four is expected to pay $118 just to enter the showgrounds, that’s only if you purchase the early bird tickets before 11:59pm on the 10th of April. Imagine what families will have to pay after that deadline passes, the costs only go up, making it even more unaffordable and that’s before even stepping foot inside or purchasing ride coupons, food, showbags etc. It's simply unaffordable for many. This makes the Easter Show feel more like a luxury event than a community celebration. 

If prices continue to climb, the Easter Show risks becoming an exclusive event only accessible to wealthier families, losing the inclusive, community spirit it was built on. Families are forced to choose between the experience or the expenses.The current ride pricing system is also unfair. The show use a "coupon" system that masks the real cost. A single ride like ‘The Joker’ costs 30 coupons, which equals $30 for less than 1 minute of fun. That’s outrageous. In comparison, other local festivals charge $2 or even free entry, and offer $30 unlimited ride wristbands. Why can't the easter be more considerate and offer similar prices? 

We shouldn’t have to break the bank to make memories. The Easter Show is supposed to bring us together – not leave us stressed about money. With the current cost-of-living crisis already stretching Aussie families, we are calling on the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to rethink their pricing and bring back affordable access to the Easter Show for everyone. Sign this petition if you believe that fun, family-friendly events like the Easter Show should be affordable for everyone – not just the few who can afford it. It's time to push for fairer pricing and bring awareness to the show’s rising costs.
