Scrap the China - Australia Free Trade agreement

Scrap the China - Australia Free Trade agreement

The issue

This so called "Skills Shortage" is a joke and bringing in below minimum wage Chinese workers is definitely no solution. If there was a skills shortage, then why are 1000s of out of trade tradies, trainees and apprentices like myself struggling to find work. I am a 1st year apprentice mechanic, and I was laid off back in May, and despite applying for countless jobs in various trades I have gotten only one reply to say I might be short listed, only to receive an email later saying that I'm not successful. This is extremely frustrating and further proves that there is no such "skills shortage" but in fact quite the opposite. Would youth unemployment be at a all time high if there was a skills shortage? Is this because young Australians such as myself are lazy? I don't think so, I think the fact of the matter is there simply aren't enough jobs as it is. So the last thing we need is underpaid (I've heard figures like $4 an hour) Chinese migrants freely being given jobs under this free trade agreement. It's putting the livelihood of Australians at risk, this could very likely force the all ready low minimum/award wage down, devastating all ready struggling families. So Andrew Robb please scrap the Free Trade Agreement before we become 2nd class citizens in our own country.
