Let me talk to you for a second… this is not just her story — this could be anyone we love.  

My cousin Tomeka should still be here. She was murdered in her home while two of her children were there. She did all the right things and still she was murdered, she was killed by her ex-fiancé, who then killed himself.

Tomeka, a 41-year-old nurse, had an active restraining order against her former fiancé that he violated more than once in recent weeks

She was a mother. She was loved. She had four beautiful children — Aiden, Gavyn, Bryson, and Ava — who now have to grow up without her.

 This didn’t have to happen.

 Domestic violence continues to take women from us, and too often, nothing changes until it’s too late. I refuse to let her story be just another headline. Today, I’m launching a petition for Tomeka’s Law — legislation that will help protect women and families before it’s too late. This is bigger than my family. This is about all of us.

🚫 Mandate immediate firearm removal for individuals accused or convicted of domestic violence
🚨 Require rapid response protocols when domestic violence is reported
🛑 Strengthen enforcement of restraining orders with real accountability
📋 Create a high-risk offender monitoring system for repeat abusers
🤝 Improve coordination between courts, law enforcement, and community services
