To Immediately CEASE all negotiations and rights to have TOM TATE export Australian Koala's for Panda's from Chengdu China to be housed at The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Stop the Exploitation of Endangered Species and Get back to Politics!

The issue

Animals have rights! Gold Coast Australia Mayor, Tom Tate wants to exploit and enslave them with the negotiations currently in place in Chengdu China doing a 'trade' for what 'HE' deems (without community vote or opinion) acceptable to exchange Australian Koala's for Panda's to be housed at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on arrival, for monetary value & entertainment, take pictures and say 'how cute' at them in enclosures completely different to both the Koala’s and Panda’s natural habitat and geographical climates.

If you agree, PLEASE sign this petition to have this negotiation STOPPED INDEFINATELY! Animals should not be abused, pawned and traded (like a Pokémon Card) as political negotiations by politicians to enhance agenda’s that the general public have no right to VOTE on.

NO ONE owns these beautiful beings or has the right to oppress, enslave & exploit them for entertainment purposes. Government would never think of stealing then shipping an Australian born child away from its mother, family and country, without consent to China to be put on 'display' would you? As that would be against human rights, illegal and a crime? Yet its ok for our fellow Earthlings? This is Speciesism!

Please show your support for the rights for these amazing creatures, who cannot speak for themselves to live their life FREE in their NATURAL habitat, without enslavery in Australia or our Koala’s being, against their will shipped off to China.

“National Trust Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary was not involved in dialogue alleged recently in the media, between the City of Gold Coast and City of Chengdu suggesting koala exchange for panda to the Gold Coast. In reaction however National Trust Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary confirms the Sanctuary manages a successful koala population already on display in China on loan under strict Australian Federal Government Conditions. Regular vetenary and zookeeper exchanges and significant investment in feed plantations , wildlife hospital facilities, conservation research and training in carefully monitored breeding have been observed over an 8 year period. The management of native wildlife collections in overseas institutions is common amongst the zoo community and regulated for animal welfare through member associations such as WAZA, ZAA and the like. Giant panda exhibits outside of China have been successful across the world and are again subject to strict controls. National Trust Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary strategic plan however does not include any intention to invest or seek investment in Giant Panda at the Sanctuary.”
