By signing this petition you are helping West Michigan sports fans be heard and seen. Here in West Michigan we don't have many professional sports teams. If we want to see our favorite teams we need to drive 2 or more hours which requires a lot of money and planning. The Grand Rapids Drive were becoming a staple to basketball fans and to families in West Michigan as a way to connect to their favorite team in Detroit. Like the Griffins and White Caps, who have found a lot of success in GR, the Drive expanded the fan base of the Pistons across the state and pulled thousands of fans per game, ranking in the upper tier of attendance for gleague teams. Tom Gores and the Pistons are making a huge mistake abandoning the Drive who were gaining popularity year by year. Instead, interest in the Pistons on the west side of the state will decrease and less people will be motivated to make the trip to attend Pistons games. Frequently attending Drive games for an affordable price has allowed me to become a fan of a lot of players and made me want to make the trip to go see them play with the Pistons in Detroit. I can't be alone. Detroit doesn't need more sports and there is nothing wrong with the great things we had going here in Grand Rapids. By signing this petition you are helping the money hungry owners of the Pistons see what the clearly failed to see before. THERE ARE A LOT OF FANS AND POTENTIAL FANS IN GR and moving to Detroit would be a huge mistake.
