Allow students to wear above the knee shorts to school.

Allow students to wear above the knee shorts to school.

The Issue

As a student of Tom C. Clark, I believe all students have a right to dress comfortably. However the rule that shorts for men have to be at knee level and no higher, heavily conflicts with the right to dress comfortably. Shorts that go above the knee do not interfere with the learning environment in any way. Any reason to believe that shorts that go above the knee are a direct reason for the disruption of learning are completely ludicrous. I am not the only male at Clark that feels this way about this ridiculous rule. Many of the male students of Clark feel uncomfortable in knee length shorts, and would much prefer the ability to wear shorter shorts. They too find this rule to be nonsensical and without purpose. The students only wish is to dress comfortably without being punished for doing so. All we ask is that you reconsider not allowing shorts go above the knee in the district's schools, because it ultimately doesn't hinder the learning environment, and therefore makes no sense to ban.
