Vanakkam!

1) This petition is meant for immediate action to prevent the suicides of young students due to the harassment of private Loan Recovery Agents justifying recovery of Educational Loans within Tamil Nadu and other states of India and also to waive the Educational Loans.
2) A 24-year-old engineering graduate, Ezhil from Anuppanadi, Madurai District, Tamil Nadu State committed suicide allegedly due to harassment he faced from a private agent involved in collecting pending education loans.
3) A 17-year-old girl Harshita Varshani, a Class 12 topper committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence at Rythupet in Nandigama Town under NTR district of Andhra Pradesh over harassment by the loan recovery agents.
4) The purpose of granting Education Loans by Government of India, is not to kill the students after completing their graduation through the private Loan Recovery Agents of Reliance and other companies. It seems that the private Loan Recovery Agents engaged for recovery of Educational Loans has badly taken the role of another special Yama Dharma Raja, specially meant to kill the students, whoever has availed Educational Loans. People of our nation from the underprivileged communities, middle class families, economically backward families irrespective of caste/ communities were suspecting as whether, it is a policy of the Government to threaten the students not pursue Higher Education after their schooling.
5) The purpose of granting Education Loans is to ensure better education for the students, so that they may earn their life and also a factor of contributing goodness to the nation.
6) Nationalised Banks has started suing the students and their parents by attaching their properties like house/ lands before the Judicial Courts for recovery of educational loans.
Hence, I request the Union Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu to take immediate appropriate action and pass orders as requested below:
A) Union Government of India to quash the provision of engaging Recovery Agents by the Banks for recovery of Educational Loans.
B) Union Government of India to pass orders to the Banks, to withdraw all the litigations against the students/ parent for recovery of Educational Loans pending before the judicial courts with immediate effect.
C) Union Government of India to grant a compensation of Rupees Two Crores for the families, who were lost the lives of students/ parents by suicide due to the harassment of Loan Recovery Agents, on recovery of Educational Loans.
D) Union Government of India to waive the Educational Loans availed by the students all over India without imposing any conditions, upto the academic year 2021-2022.
E) The DMK led Hon’ble Thiru. M.K. Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu State to allot funds in the forthcoming Budget to waive all the Educational Loans availed by the students of Tamil Nadu from the banks within Tamil Nadu, who studied at Educational Institutions within Tamil Nadu state or other States of India or even at Foreign Nations, without imposing any conditions, upto the academic year 2021-2022, by paying the same towards the banks.
F) The DMK led Hon’ble Thiru. M.K. Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu State to allot funds in the forthcoming Budget to waive twenty five percent (25%) of the Principal Amount and whole of the interest for the all the Educational Loans availed by the students of Tamil Nadu from the banks within Tamil Nadu, who studied at Educational Institutions within Tamil Nadu state or other States of India or even at Foreign Nations, without imposing any conditions, upto the academic year 2019-2020, by paying the same towards the banks.
G) The DMK led Hon’ble Thiru. M.K. Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu State to ban the provision of engaging Loan Recovery Agents by the Banks within Tamil Nadu for recovery of Educational Loans.
H) The DMK led Hon’ble Thiru. M.K. Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu State to pass orders to the Banks within Tamil Nadu, to withdraw all the litigations against the students/ parent for recovery of Educational Loans pending before the judicial courts with immediate effect.
I) The DMK led Hon’ble Thiru. M.K. Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu State to grant a compensation of Rupees Two Crores for the families, who were lost the lives of students/ parents by suicide due to the harassment of Loan Recovery Agents, on recovery of Educational Loans engaged by the banks within Tamil Nadu.
