As concerned Pottsville residents and advocates for youth opportunities, we are calling on the Pottsville City Zoning Board to retain the commercial zoning for the former Ivy Side Swim Club property. This decision is of particular importance to us as it impacts the future of our community's youth.

The Pottsville Area Little League has set forth a valuable proposal to transform this space into an indoor training facility. This would offer our young people a safe, supportive environment to enhance their athletic skills, all year round. The value of such an opportunity should not be underestimated, as studies have shown that involvement in youth sports not only promotes physical health, but also encourages the development of critical life skills like teamwork, discipline, and goal-setting.

Despite this, the future of this project hangs in the balance due to the current zoning debate. Without commercial zoning, this plan has no possibilities. This move would be in stark contrast to the interests of our community, and especially our youth.

We urge the Pottsville City Zoning Board to make a thoughtful consideration of the immense benefits this facility will bring to our children and community. Let's give our youth the resources they need to succeed. In doing so, we invest in the future of Pottsville.
