We ask the Queensland government to stop adding fishing restrictions that are reducing commercial fisher’s ability to
supply the community with fresh local seafood.
Seafood consumers who want to eat local wild catch are being deprived of this community resource in shops and
restaurants.

Since 2004 consumers have lost access to over 330 million servings of

Australian locally caught seafood per year.

In 2015 - Queensland consumers lost more than 900,000 servings of locally caught seafood per year from Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton because the recreational fishing industry wanted exclusive access.

In 2016 - Victorian consumers lost access to more than 1.6 million servings of Port Phillip Bay seafood per year because the recreational fishing industry wanted exclusive access.

In 2017 - The recreational fishing industry lobbyists have started campaigning for the removal of consumers access to locally caught seafood in Northern Queensland, using propaganda created in Jamaica.
