The overnight Christmas Day television ratings ranked BBC Three as one of the best-performing channels on television yesterday with 1 million people tuning in to watch Shrek Forever After at 9pm. This means almost as many people tuned to BBC Three as they did Channel 4 for Alan Carr's Chatty Man last night.
This shows just how important it is for BBC Three to remain on our television to give young people and its audience an alternative to Call The Midwife and Downton Abbey on BBC One and ITV. Over the last week families have voted with their remote and have given BBC3 some great ratings. Why put this at risk by moving content solely online?
Over the coming months we will be stepping up the #savebbc3 fight. The BBC Trust make the final decision on the proposals - which could ultimately lead to a big cut in BBC funding for content for young people - and there will be a consultation where we can all get involved.
In the meantime please follow us on Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/savebbcthree - and like our Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/save3
Enjoy the Christmas holidays and have a Happy New Year!
