The BBC shows a complete disregard for the BBC Three audience every time it airs the same episode of Family Guy on BBC3 for a consecutive night. If you agree sign this – savebbc3.com/familyguy. BBC3 doesn’t have to be like this, but it seems to be all part of the BBC’s plans to shrink the BBC3 audience. We’ve argued the proposed £30m cuts should not be diverted to BBC1 but kept for the 16-34 year olds. Therefore if it’s saved it wouldn’t have to be like this. Yes some of you will argue the BBC contract for Family Guy is different to other shows, some will point out in years to come ITV will take the contract, but *right now* it shouldn't mean the BBC can’t vary the episodes. We don’t need to see the Star Wars episode fifteen times a month, or the North Pole episode numerous times in July, August, and September. Yes the BBC want BBC3 off our TV screens but it’s hard to fathom why they would want to lose a very loyal young audience in advance of an online move if it really cares about the future of the channel and the people that watch it. It’s not just Family Guy either. The same films are now being aired weekend in and weekend out as part of their plans to shrink the audience. Deep Impact is just one of those that seems to air every week. The BBC will argue this is about the cuts – but BBC Four manages to air different shows every night with a smaller budget. It’s hard to believe since the BBC announced the closure of BBC Three it’s announced a BBC1+1, extra CBBC hours, services for North Korea and Russia, a service to rival Spotify, £30m for BBC1 drama, content for local newspapers, a new iPlayer service for other commercial stations, and the BBC Music Awards. With CBeebies' future at risk too I wonder what the BBC has against young people? We must stop the closure of BBC Three to avoid any other disastrous channel closure proposals. PS.
