The Issue

Every day, countless lives are put at risk on Indian roads due to the presence of stray cows that wander or sit on the highways. This is not just an inconvenience; it's a serious safety hazard that affects motorists, pedestrians, and most importantly, families. I have personally lost someone dear to me because of such an accident; a momentary encounter with a cow led to a tragic and preventable death.

recently renowned Punjabi  singer Rajvir jawanda has been died   on road due  stray cows on the roads. whcih  has prompted common public to put pressure on governments to make  arrangements for stray cows  because  government is collecting cow cess from   common public.

India is home to an estimated 5 million stray cattle, and these bovines often find themselves on our busy roads. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, there were over 97,000 accidents involving animals on roads in 2022, leading to more than 14000  fatalities and thousands of injuries. This problem persists and calls for urgent and effective intervention.

What is more  trouble for citizen is that  government collects  cow cess  from  public but  their  shelters have not been made so far. We urge the government and local authorities to take concrete actions to tackle this emergency. One possible solution is to improve and strengthen cattle shelters and ensure they have enough capacity and resources to accommodate stray cattle. Another solution is to implement well-designed cattle-capturing programs that relocate these animals to safe environments without causing them harm.

Additionally, road safety measures should be increased, such as better lighting and signage in areas where the presence of cattle is frequent. Public awareness campaigns could also educate drivers about the risks and precautions to take when driving in areas known for stray cattle.

Implementing these actions could lead to significantly safer roads for everyone involved, saving hundreds of lives each year and reducing the strain on emergency services. Join me in calling for urgent measures to stop these preventable tragedies and improve road safety in India.
