In the last 30 years of rock/ metal history one person has dominated our minds, school books, bedroom walls, t shirts and CD collections with his madness, carnage and down right facinating journey through the ages. 

Without a shadow of a doubt one of the most iconic figures in rock/ metal history is the creation of artist and illustrator Derek Rigg's Eddie The Ed.

We instantly think of those Iron Maiden covers which Derek worked tirelessly for decades with the band to adorn and delight us encompassing the vibe and spirit of the album. 

I remember being 7 an walking past Woolworths to see a cardboard cut out of Eddie in the window for the 12" Bring Your Daughter single. It would be 4 years later I picked up A Real Live One and started drawing the Eddie days before I listened to the music.

This petition is to celebrate and showcase the best of Dereks work if not all of it in the flesh here in London where it all began for Derek and Maiden. A chance for fans to appreciate at first hand the skill with which Derek works as well as appreciating his humour and symbolism. His technique and whimsy.

I humbly ask that Rod Smallwood, Maiden and Derek come together to showcase a retrospective amongst those paintings we already know to make this a once in a lifetime chance to appreciate the finest monster of rock that is EDDIE.

Paintings have been lost or stolen and such a quest may find forgotten treasures deep in the vaults of the band.
