As past and present members of the TJHSST PTSA, and concerned TJ parents at large, we were deeply dismayed to receive the VA PTA letters sent on June 23, 2021.  Although some of us were aware of the increasing divide within our parent community, most of us had no idea about the serious issues outlined.  We condemn the unacceptable behavior of some of our Board members and demand that you work together to immediately resolve all issues identified in the letters.  

We recommend the following actions from the current Executive Board members:

1. Invite former TJPTSA EC president Nick Costescu and TJ principal Dr. Ann Bonitatibus to the EC meeting on Monday to discuss this issue. This is a starting point to build a positive and collaborative relationship between current Executive Board and the school. This is one of the first items cited in the letter from VA PTA. Nick provides valuable experiences and insights that can benifit the TJ community. 

2. It is the duty of all Executive Board members to adhere to VA PTA rules and values. If any one of the Executive Board fails to agree to 100% compliance, per Article 9, Section 5 of the By-Laws, we call on the majority of the Board to remove the individual(s) from the Board.  The intention letter from VA PTA has clearly specified the behaviors of some EC members that are non-compliant. These behaviors have been shown to be persistent and have dire consequences on the well being of the whole TJ comminity. Removing of these board members is the most concert way to convince VA PTA that the current EC is capable to move forward for the benefit of the entire TJ community.
