In August 2015 we received undercover footage from an intensive duck facility ‘Tinder Creek’ that would make anybody’s heart break.

The vision shows numerous dead ducklings littered across the floor. Older ducks are seen lying on their backs unable to get up. Others have their heads twisted backwards so they walk in circles. About a minute into the footage we see a close up of one of the lifeless ducklings. Her head rests face down in the litter. As the camera focuses you can see that she isn’t yet dead. Her soft yellow feathers rise and fall gently with every small breath she takes. She moves her head slightly in a pitiful attempt to stop bugs crawling on her face- but she does not have the energy for anything more.

What is most heartbreaking about this footage is that we have seen it all before.

In October 2012 footage taken from Tinder Creek duck farms showed filthy conditions, animals with their heads twisted around, and a disease outbreak. A year later more footage from the same facility revealed that the conditions were still terrible.

We have contacted stockists of Tinder Creek ducks but the following businesses have either decided to still stock and sell Tinder Creek ducks or have ignored our emails (despite the above issues being explained to them): Mahogany Creek Distributors, Vatel Restaurant Drummoyne, Booth Street Bistro Annandale.

Enough is enough. Please tell these stockists and restaurants to cease stocking Tinder Creek Ducks.
