Keep Purley Swimming Pool Open

Keep Purley Swimming Pool Open
The Issue
Croydon Council have decided to shut Purley Swimming Pool on 1st April.
By doing so the community will loose
School swimming lessons –the local kids will no longer be taught life saving and lifestyle skills that are supposedly high on our UK Agenda.
Children’s individual swimming lessons. Very popular at weekends.
Prescribed swim and gym therapy from local doctors. There will now be nowhere for these to be held and people will return to medication or worse.
Disabled swimming club. There is unlikely to be a free session available in another pool so the club is likely to end.
Lifestyle enhancing exercise for all, including the elderly and infirm.
Swimming clubs and Aqua aerobics sessions. These clubs are very unlikely to be able to relocate.
Specialist rehabilitation group for people with hip transplants
The Gymnasium.
They will also tear the heart out of the local Purley community. there is no plan in place for regeneration.
Once it is closed, it will never be re-opened and there will never again be this facility in the area. People's lifestyles will be changed and their health and well being will decline, with a massive increase in care costs for the borough. People cannot get to an alternative centre.
This decision must be reversed very quickly.
