The Issue

He died because a product sold at gas stations and smoke shops, marketed as a "natural supplement," is anything but safe. Kratom's most dangerous compound, 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), acts on the brain like an opioid. It has been linked to seizures, hallucinations, liver failure, respiratory depression, addiction, and death.

Kratom-related poisonings have surged more than 1,200% over the past decade, according to the CDC. The federal government has finally taken notice: the DEA is moving to classify high-concentration 7-OH products in the same category as heroin. Nine states have already banned kratom outright. Our lawmakers should act just as fast.

We are asking our elected officials to:

Ban dangerous kratom products, including any containing high concentrations of 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH).
Require clear public warnings about kratom's risks everywhere it is sold.

No family should bury a child because of a product sitting next to the energy drinks at a gas station counter. Timothy's death was preventable. The next one can be too, if lawmakers act now.

Sign this petition. Every signature tells lawmakers that one more preventable death is one too many.

Protect families. Protect our kids. Put lives before profits.
