Legalize Recreational Marijuana in Minnesota

The Issue

Marijuana should not be illegal in the United States, or in individual states.  The only reason that it is illegal is due to racism (due to the character limit, I am unable to explain why it is illegal, but research it and the information is publicly available).

Elected officials are supposed to represent the people. However, many elected officials in our state and country are forcing their own antiquated personal views on our legislature, and the people who elected them; rather than representing the people and acting on the wishes of the people.

One of these issues is the legalization of recreational marijuana. Letting people make their own decisions regarding what they choose to put in their body. This is a freedom that should not ever have been taken away, and it needs to be returned to people in the "land of the free."

Many under-educated and over-privileged elected officials push their own personal views on others.  This appears to stem from their desire to feel as though they are powerful over others, and can control their personal decisions.

One excuse that they commonly use is that marijuana is a gateway drug. This is far from being a fact.

The real truth is that marijuana is illegal. Those who choose to use it have to obtain it illegally. They have to do this by interacting with "gateway people." These "Gateway People" are the drug dealers, who prey on people in any way that they can, to benefit themselves.

It is not marijuana that is the gateway. It is the government forcing people to interact with undesirable people in order to obtain a substance they should have the right to obtain themselves, legally, or even cultivate themselves.

When citizens are forced to interact with "gateway people", the drug dealers act as the gateway by persuading and selling them anything that they think they can get people hooked on, to make them come back.

If marijuana were legal, as it should be, good people would not be forced to interact with bad people in order to obtain this substance. There are some people who will still use the harder drugs, that they get from the black market. There always has been, and always will be. However, legalization would give the good people the choice of no longer interacting with the scumbags.

Obviously there are other benefits as well to legalization, such as tax income for the state.

Using, commercially selling, and personally growing marijuana should be legal.  If we cannot make this legal, we should take a survey of our elected officials passions, pastimes, and hobbies - and start making them illegal.

Please act for the people who elected you, and urge other Republicans to do the same. We the people do not want to have to elect democrats into your positions, just to get action in the areas that are important to many of us; that are being ignored by our elected officials, in leiu of them forcing their old fart ways. But we will if we have to.

Marijuana legalization is one thing that most logical and properly educated Democrats and Republicans can agree on.

If Congress is unable to get this done, put it on the ballot to let the adults make the decision for you.
