This is to bring to your attention the denigration of Hindus’ revered saint, Mirabai in paintings by Tim Holmes. Above, we have given one of Holmes’ paintings of Mirabai depicted nude. It all started when Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA) received an email rfom a devout Hindu, complaining about this painting. Upon receiving the complaint, one of our sadhak volunteers wrote to Tim Holmes, protesting about the painting in an educative manner. Tim responded to the emails, at first with some curiosity. So our volunteer patiently provided him the Hindu viewpoint on depicting Hindu Deities and sacred figures, and some history about Saint Mirabai. This was to explain that there is no history about this saint wandering naked and to depict her as nude is hurtful to the devout Hindu mind. However, Holmes has refused to take down the painting, and maintained that he is a devout Christian and his paintings are like prayers. There was no answer from him when asked why he has not drawn Mother Mary in the nude. You can compare the two paintings above for yourself, the one by Holmes showing Mirabai as nude and the other, a more accurate depiction of Mirabai in devotion unto Her Lord, Krishna. Forum for Hindu Awakening now appeals to you to petition Tim Holmes to kindly remove his paintings of Mirabai.
