Tik tok has always had it to where live streams can be viewed without entering the live via the FYP page. However, within the past few months, tiktok has slowly integrated a new Tiktok live feature allowing for the live to be previewed and watched and all you have to do is search the tiktok account and watch. The creator will never be notified and the account watching from the outside would have no way of being proven to be watching this creator.

This is a huge cause of concern for several creators. Some creators deal with stalking, harrassment, bullying and may or may not in their personal lives have a restraining/no contact order and have no way of proving a defendant violated it. While fake accounts can enter lives, those fake accounts can be traced while this “preview” feature allows for accounts to view the lives without any trace to the application nor the creator.

This petition is meant to implore tik tok to rethink this update as it is enabling stalkers to be able to watch and gather information without fear of being caught or located. The “preview” if entirely necessary, should be changed to a short video or bounce the creator creates to entice viewers instead. This action would place the creators back in full control of their content and give them the power of being able to trace accounts and have a log of what accounts were in the live to further protect creators and their assets as well as diminish the bullying and stalking being committed through this application. 
I myself have been a victim of this. I have had people unknown record live streams and crop the recordings to twist my words. With the live recordings I am able to prove the truth behind the incident, but I would be able to monitor better and discontinue the fake accounts and stalking and harassment if I were able to know who was watching my livestream. They’re are several other accounts who have dealt with similar and even more intense circumstances.
