A lot of women, including myself, who use the app have spoken out about having their videos taken down because the outline of their nipples are showing through their top. The videos that I have had removed have no sexual nature and they generally have a positive and uplifting message behind them, as that is how I choose to use my platform. 

By having these guidelines in place, Tiktok is sexualising women’s bodies and creating new insecurities for us, as simply not wearing a bra could get a video that they spent a lot of time on removed, despite women’s lack of control over what their bodies look like. In the list of community guidelines, it specifically says ‘female nipples’ under the section titled ‘pornography and nudity’.

This is an unfair double standard as there are half naked men doing sexual dances and making vulgar comments on the app and they never seem to have any issues with their videos, despite their sexual intent. 

Please sign this petition to change this and make TikTok reconsider their sexist community guidelines, so that the app as a whole can be a fair and safe place for women to create the content that they want, without the fear of their videos being taken down!
