Think Twice!

Think Twice!
The Issue
In recent years, fast fashion has surged in popularity, largely due to its affordability and rapid production cycles. Among the giants of this industry, SHEIN has emerged as a leading retailer, but not without serious ethical concerns. It is imperative that consumers become aware of the harmful business and environmental practices this company employs.
SHEIN’s fashion model is built on offering an overwhelming variety of new clothing items daily, at extremely low prices. However, this model has led to widespread unethical labour practices. Reports indicate that garment workers in factories overseas are subjected to poor working conditions, low wages, and excessive work hours. This exploitation allows for profits to soar while workers suffer inhumanely.
The environmental impact is equally alarming. Fast fashion contributes significantly to pollution and waste; in fact, according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an estimated 92 million tonnes of textile waste is produced by the fashion industry every year. SHEIN’s business model exacerbates this waste problem, flooding the market with inexpensive clothing that is often discarded after a few wears.
Moreover, the carbon emissions from fast-fashion are colossal. It’s noted that the fashion industry accounts for around 10% of global carbon emissions, more than international flights and maritime shipping combined (UN Environment Programme). By supporting companies like SHEIN, consumers unknowingly contribute to this environmental degradation.
To drive change, we must collectively decide to alter our habits and demand accountability from corporations. Think twice before clicking "buy" and consider the story behind the price tag.
It’s time for us to make a stand by refusing to support SHEIN and compel them towards ethical reform. Your action counts: sign this petition to acknowledge SHEIN's unethical practices and commit to making conscientious choices as a consumer and comment "Think twice before clicking "buy, If I can do it so can you". Join us in this pivotal movement towards a more ethical and sustainable future.
