The Future of Adult and Career Education in Los Angeles: A Personal Plea
40% of all high school Students partake in Adult Education classes to satisfy high school diploma requirements.
In 2010-2011 over 88,000 students partook in DACE programs to make up credits and earn a diploma. Over 51,000 took ROP (Regional Occupation Programs).
Many former drop-outs managed to graduate with the help of DACE programs.
In other words: There is an absolutely Certainty that high school dropout rates will SKYROCKET if adult and career education is eliminated JUNE 2012!
Adult Education serves 37% of the districts total enrollment but only uses 2% of LAUSD Budget - NOW they want to cut that 2%?!
