THINK, DON'T DRINK!!!

THINK, DON'T DRINK!!!
The issue
Dear Australians
Do you believe that all people in Australia should stay safe, if you do then we need to take action against alcohol consumption in the CBD ( Melbourne ).
Why is alcohol bad for you?
First we need to know the negative effects of alcohol on the body.
Alcohol effects the entire body. It damages the liver, gut, brain, pancreas , lungs, cardiovascular system, immune system and etc.
Alcohol has a toll on the body by interfering with many of the vital organs. It effects the brain by getting in the way of communication pathways and this can change the way that the brain functions.
Research has shown that heavy drinkers are prone to various diseases such as heart disease, heart attacks, cancer, mental health conditions ( depression, anxiety and addiction), liver diseases and much more (NIAAA)
About 77 % of adults in Australians drink alcohol, and 33% of adults drink over the Australian Alcohol Guidelines putting them at a risk of a disease ( Alcohol Think Again , 31 May 2023 ) Approximately 4 in 10 people aged over 14 report drinking alcohol at least once a week, including 5% who drink on a daily basis. ( NADK )
Why do we need change?
Would you want to see a fully grown man that is drunk roaming around the city, under intoxication ? This is why we need to ban alcohol consumption in the CBD. Alcohol consumption is dangerous in public areas such as the CBD. The city Melbourne welcomes tourists to its streets everyday, and having someone under the influence stumbling through the streets would create an unsafe environment.
This is the exact reason why we need to ban alcohol in the CBD. Banning alcohol in the CBD will ensure safer streets and a good image for our country. By banning alcohol the streets of Melbourne would be a safer and better place for people.
How can citizens get involved?
Citizens can get involved by doing active citizenship. They can participate in community programs and raise awareness around the misuses of alcohol. They and you can also sign this petition.
Don't you think this is a job of an adult? Let alone kids taking action for things we don't have to is not right. Please help us make Australia a better place for everyone :)
Thank you for reading
Kind Regards
Hifsa Ghulam and Maryam Hassan :)
