Cap rent for students

Cap rent for students
The Issue
According to the Higher Education Statistics Agency, there were 2.2 million college students in 2014-15 (undergrads and postgrads). Tuition, especially for non-EU students, costs a fortune and living expenses in the UK are sky-high (Anywhere from £635-£1,280).
Rent constitutes a major portion of the expenses and even university accommodation for a student in London is north of £165 per week.
Students contribute positively towards the economy in two ways:
Part-time/temp jobs: Who shelves those boxes of cookies and bills your basket at the supermarket?
Long run: Get skills in college to move up in the job market and generate income for companies, which in turn contribute to the economy.
When students do so much already, why can't our accommodation be further subsidised? We already have student loans to worry about.
