on the 11th of October child protection officers removed all seven of our amazing children from thier loving home.
Thier basis for doing this was that as my 4 year old had received bruising that AT THAT MOMENT was unexplained and all 7 were apparent at risk of significant harm if they stayed at home. This bruising WAS explained by a ten year old competent child who witnessed the accident before they were removed. We were pressured as parents into signing a volountary section 20 which allowed then to take our children but we retain parental rights. At the time I was a vulnerable post natal mother recovering from a c section and I was unable to comprehend what was happening. My husband suffers dyslexia. We both signed without being explained the implications. That is the first failing.
During the first WEEK I had 1 hour 40 minutes contact with my newborn baby therefore denying me of my right to promote the bond with my child and my childs right to bond with me.
So far social services have not indicated what it is we need to do to return our children to a 'safe' environment. When asked they say there is nothing on the computer for us to do.
We have done all these changes volountary without social services imput.
1. Safeguarded stairs appropriately
2. We have accident books for all children kept up to date daily as they often have accidents at contact.
3. Placed video monitors in bedroom to supervise appropriately overnight.
4. signed up to triple p parenting programne
5. Approached m.i.n.d for behaviour therapy
6. Gained personal references
7. Signed husband up to beginners literacy course at college.
8. Approached local authority numerous times for support which was not given.
All this in 5 weeks. We are proving beyond doubt that we are able to care for our children. Still the local authority remain silent
Social workers admit they are stuck and don't know how to move forward. They are picking at our past to try show us to be unfit parents in the future. It won't work. This has been done so many times to large families like mine. I believe we are being made an example of because of recent bad press.
One of my children has already been injured by an adult in local authority care which they admit.. and I have been denied my parental right to seek appropriate medical attention for her. By apparently investigating internally they believe they can deny my child the right to a proper criminal investigation and justice. WRONG!
Because local authority has removed one of our children who is suffering with behavioural difficulties they have caused her behaviour to worse. The help we had in place has now been postponed until she is settled therefore causing her FURTHER EMOTIONAL HARM
The local authority should be working with us not leaving us alone and frightened for our children. They should be working with the children's best interest in mind not covering thier own mistakes. The local authority are technically blackmailing us to keep our children in section 20 by issuing pre preceedings IF we revoke our consent to get them home.
These beautiful loving children are split between foster homes. And have already been moved about too much. Our children cry every day to be home.
Please Show your support against this cruelty.
