James Cunningham started this petition to The Yellow Pages and

It's time for Australia to STOP printing the Yellow Pages.

Delivering hundreds of thousands of big yellow books to people how just don't want or use them is probably one of the largest environmental wastes in Australia each year. There was a time when these books were ubiquitous, but that time is not 2020.

It is simply not good enough for any organisation to 'force' households to receive all this paper waste, simply for most of the books to be put in the bin. The Yellow Pages should immediately move to an 'Opt In' system for those who still want the book delivered, moving away from its existing 'Opt Out' system. The amount of paper this would save, and save from ending up in landfill, would be massive and this is not a small issue when it comes to sustainability and recycling in Australia. In the United Kingdom, the annual Yellow Pages mass printing and delivery ceased last year.

We call on the Yellow Pages in Australia, and their parent company Sensis, to stop printing and automatically delivering these books to hundreds of thousands of households who do not need or want them. Stop the waste.
