Christian Grey is not "the epitome of male beauty, breathtaking." He is a hard 7 at best. If you include his personality and obvious character flaws, he is arguably a 4 or 5 (with 3 of those points coming from his fleet of Audis, amazing condo and personal helicopter). Paul Clayton, played by Anthony Konechny, is ranging on a 9.5 based on the hardware store scene. His body is far superior to Christian's, he seems to care about Anastasia and he likely isn't a huge weirdo who would enjoy "punishing" her.
