United Nations represents 193 countries( Members).Within it ,the Security Council is responsible for maintaining peace and making critical global decisions. It has 15 members :10 of them are elected for a limited time of 2 years, while 5 permanents members-the United States,Russia,China, the United Kingdom, and France-have held positions since 1945.

These five countries hold a special power known as the (veto) .This means that even if the other 14 members agree on a resolution to stop a war or help a nation, just one of these permanent members can block the decision completely.

This raises a serious problem. The system should be Modernized, is 81 years old ,and is not keeping up and doesn't protect global peace

We are told the United Nations exists to maintain peace. However,Article 27(3) of its own Charter states that countries involved in a conflict should not vote in related decisions.Yet this rule is often ignored.Powerful nations can act as both judge and decision-maker,using their veto power to protect their own interest-even while conflicts continue and millions of people suffer.

This creates what can be seen as a form of "legal protection" of war.

No single country should have the power to block accountability ,especially when is directly involved in a conflict.

When a country supports a smaller one,it can give that country a sense of protection -a "shield"- allowing actions without fear of consequences. If all nations were required to follow the same rules, including Article 27(3), this protection would no longer exist, and decisions would be more fair and balanced.

There are many examples of veto power being used to block action ,including:

The United States blocking resolutions related to Israel.

Russia and China using vetoes in conflicts such as Syria and Sudan.

Other permanent members using veto power in various regional conflicts.
