WE ONLY SUPPORT ETHICALLY OPERATED WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Issue

THE WILDLIFE ANIMAL PROTECTION FOURUM SOUTH AFRICA AND SATSA

WAPFSA was initiated in 2017 as a collaborative network representing the interests of wild animals and as a vehicle to engage government on animal protection, ethical and compassionate conservation, welfare and biodiversity loss issues. Michele Pickover the director of the EMS Foundation is the chairperson of WAPFSA.

The Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) is a member driven association that offers inbound tourism services companies the highest level of quality in the tourism industry.

In November 2019 SATSA released new guidelines for the captive wildlife industry, after coming to the realisation that tourists are looking for ways to limit their impact on wildlife in captive situations.

The sustainability of the South African tourism industry is based on the enjoyment of nature and wildlife in their natural surroundings.  The SATSA guidelines focus on the ethical choices for visitors and the tourism industry and they provide guidance on the transformation of the captive wildlife sector and tourism industry underpinned by an ethical approach.

WAPFSA supports SATSA and we encourage conservationists and all tourism organisations, all affiliated industry partners and tourists to South Africa to support wildlife sanctuaries that follow these new guidelines.

Sign our petition to spread the guidelines as we educate the world to be a better place for all.
