Why this petition matters

Started by AW NETWORK

I made this petition to make sure that The Weather Channel covered severe storms for all of the US when severe weather happens. This issue affects many Americans who are in the path of severe weather and hurricanes or have families in the path of them and we need them to start covering storms better now! Please sign and share with others!

The Weather Channel is America's longest-running weather network they launched with a focus on well, weather.

They had some of the most informative coverage during events such as Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, and the 2011 super outbreak. And many events before in between and after, Though recently since around 2016 they started lacking in coverage, Though they still had some good coverage such as hurricanes that's what it pretty much comes down to... On May 27th, 2019 tornadoes hit the state of Ohio and the city of Dayton which was later confirmed to be an EF-4 tornado The Weather Channel cut in locally to the city of Dayton and surrounding areas though, cutting in locally means they use the IntelliStar hardware to do so this is only cable software so satellite viewers such as Directv, Dish or AT&T U-Verse do not get these cut-ins and more people seem to have satellite rather than cable people took the frustration to Twitter and there are easily over 100 tweets of people angry that The Weather Channel didn't cover these storms... The Weather Channel went on to make an hour-long documentary about the storms hitting Dayton Ohio, So the general opinion was "They can make documentaries but not cover the storms directly"

Between May 27th, 2019 and now The Weather Channel has repeatedly not covered severe storms in favor of long-form shows such as Highway Thru Hell, Heavy Rescue 401, and Storm of Suspicion

During the late hours of May 2nd, 2021 a tornado hit Tupelo Mississippi while The Weather Channel aired Highway Thru Hell, The Weather Channel would rather air reality shows than air severe storm coverage, Life-saving information.

People took to Twitter with easily over 100 tweets calling on The Weather Channel to cover the storms but they never did they did however cut into IntellIStar again but most people around Tupelo have satellite and cannot view the coverage as IntelliStar is cable only
A few examples of people being upset by the lack of storm coverage:

So essentially if you have satellite service you do not get any cut-ins for severe weather and if you live in another state and turn on The Weather Channel to check on a storm near a family member or friend you will be greeted with Highway Thru Hell.

MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS WHO CARE AND WANT TO SAVE LIVES CALL ON THE WEATHER CHANNEL / WEATHER GROUP TELEVISION / BRYON ALLEN / ALLEN MEDIA GROUP. TO START COVERING SEVERE WEATHER AND STOP WITH HIGHWAY THRU HELL DURING WEATHER EVENS PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE SAFE DURING SEVERE WEATHER AND FAMILY OF PEOPLE IN THE PATH HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE INFORMED OF WHATS IMPACTING THEIR FAMILY, PLEASE STOP WITH THE REALITY AND DO WHAT YOUR NAME IS THE WEATHER CHANNEL, COVER. THE. WEATHER.
