My water bill is embarrassingly high, a sentiment shared by many in our community of Paris, TX. The escalating costs of city utilities are becoming unbearable for the average citizen. This isn't just about my personal struggle; it's about all of us who are feeling the pinch. My neighbor is unable to wash clothes at home and limits shower time from fear of rise in bills.  New logos on the water towers , but forcing higher bills to citizens to pay.   

The root cause appears to be irresponsible spending and poor fund management on part of our local government.  The city wanted to help fund a side walk in a wealthy part on the outer circle of town, while single parents walk through the mud and high grass going to work on a main street through the city ! We need better oversight and more efficient use of our resources. According to a report from the American Water Works Association (AWWA), cities that manage their funds effectively can reduce utility costs by up to 15%. Imagine what that could mean for families struggling with high bills every month. A new Sewer plant could have been constructed in different ways or funding from other desires moved to the sewer project to ease the burden on the citizens. Even a billing oversight to adjust for disabled or low income families.  Many other options than the current one planned ! 

We demand an immediate review and reform in how city funds are managed, with a specific focus on reducing wasteful spending and moving money from projects to pay for the city’s failed ideologies on money management ! Let's lower the cost of city utilities and make living in Paris, TX affordable again.
