With the rumors and news surrounding Johnny Depp's fall from Disney, causing him to not be able to step into boots of the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow anymore, the future of the franchise is uncertain as rumors of a Pirates reboot is being tossed around online, eying a woman to lead the movie.

While all the rumors and chaos have spread around the internet and the fandom, fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean films and fans of the prequel novels about young Jack Sparrow, called “Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow” or “The Original Adventures of Young Jack Sparrow” written by Rob Kidd, have been hoping for a TV series based around said novels.

With Depp being booted from the franchise and Disney+ rising, now would be a more perfect time than ever to adapt the novels to a full TV series for the streaming service. Here are some points to why the young Jack Sparrow books should be turned into a TV series and why it would be a great show:

• The books are a perfect script for a TV show. The series is rather episodic and shows a great portrayal of Jack Sparrow

• Follows lore of the Pirates of the Caribbean universe and the show would restore what has been retconned by the latest installments of the film saga.

• The series would bring something nostalgic to older fans, and perhaps adding more along with the reboot, while still providing something new for newer and younger fans.

• We are in the age of reboots and prequels, and the series would fit exactly in both of those categories.

• Brings back the character of Jack Sparrow without Depp’s presence.

• Having a teenaged Jack Sparrow and other younger characters around the ages of 13-17 in the cast would be more relatable to a younger audience (while still not dumbing it down)

• The series would give younger actors a chance at being a part of something big.

• There would be a strong female protagonist (Arabella Smith from the books)

• Ethnic representation (Jean and Tumen from the books)

• Comedic reliefs (Bickering between Jack and Fitzwilliam, or Constance the cat turned girl)

• Explore great villains (one of them is female!)

• Bring back old characters from the films (ie. Tia Dalma, Davy Jones, Captain Teague, etc.)

• Easter eggs to the ride and the films.

• Great story arcs that span throughout the series.

• They seem to be releasing second editions of the novels, and as well as they released audiobooks and a manga adaptation of the series in the last year. It would make sense to adapt them to a TV series when they seem to be republishing the books.

Here are some more points to how they could potentially do the series:

• Each story arc of the novels would be their own season.

• The producers, writers, etc. would have to read the novels so they could properly adapt them to the screen.

• The first season would focus around the legendary Sword of Cortés. The season would potentially be around 6-8 episodes.

• As said in a previous point, they could add more or expand upon certain points to make it still feel new to older fans or fans who have read the novels.

• The next season could move on to the quest for the Sun-and-Stars amulet.

• Also said in a previous point, cast younger actors, or younger looking actors.

Summary would potentially be on the lines of:

““Before the Black Pearl, there was a teenage stowaway named Jack Sparrow...”

Teenage barmaid Arabella Smith encounters a young Jack Sparrow and together, they assemble a ragtag crew of aristocratic Fitzwilliam P. Dalton III, French Creole Jean Magliore and his cat-turned sister Constance, and Mayan Tumen as they set sail aboard the mighty Barnacle to proclaim the legendary Sword of Cortés!”

OR

“Before finding the Power of the Sea, before discovering the Fountain of Youth, before the journey to World's End, before the secret of the Dead Man's Chest, before the curse of the Black Pearl, there was a teenage stowaway named Jack Sparrow...”

In all, the series would restore love for the films and the books, and more people would subscribe to the Disney+ streaming service to watch the series.

Word has been going around about a young Jack Sparrow series of Disney+, but they’re seeming to take a different direction from the books, and they’re seeming to eye Zach Efron (amongst other, probably older actors) to play the young Jack. Although we don’t know whether that would be true or not, we hope The Walt Disney Company sees this and change their minds about what they’re planning and give the fans what they have been yearning for.
