Save the Splash Mountain gators

The Issue

This is a story of a person who fell in love with an animatronic alligator and it’s band.

In 2018, I was researching animatronics when I came across this character. He was a banjo playing alligator from the Splash Mountain ride. Years ago, I had a fascination for the ride and those three instrument playing alligators. I was such a fan of them when I was young. Then, I lost my attachment to them. I found them again in the February of 2018, and it changed me. There seemed to be people who were also fans of them and I soon made a lot of friends. Friends that may even be permanent. Eventually, I became attached to one particular animatronic. He had no name, but he played a nice banjo. His smile lit up my life and just seeing him made me so happy. I started to become emotionally attached to him. There was no other character that made me feel that way. I made fanart of him, cosplayed him, have a plushie of him I carry everywhere I go, and I’ve even painted a mural of him in my room. He’s like my main influence and it makes me so happy to be alive. Unfortunately, there’s a threat to him and his friends. People are trying to get Splash Mountain changed due to its ties to the controversial movie Song Of The South. These gators and a majority of the characters in the ride were never associated from that film as they came from a different attraction, America Sings. Their names were The Swamp Boys. Now, the only thing I ask is for these gators to be saved. Not only from Disneyland’s Splash Mnt, but from WDWs and Tokyo’s as well. If the attraction is to ever be shut down or revamped, I want these gators and their clones to be rescued. My hope is that they can either be reused in another attraction/attractions, or perhaps even saved by a group of fans. Having them scrapped is my biggest fear. I don’t think I can live without these wonderful and amazing characters being around anymore. So I ask of you, for me and the fans of these animatronics, please sign this petition to save them. It would mean to much to me, more than I can even imagine.
