Indian Disney Princess to be added to Disney Princess Line Up Of 11 Princesses

The Issue

4 Year old girl asks “Why is there no Indian Princess along with other Disney Princesses, is it because India has poor peoples or are they not any strong or beautiful peoples in India ?” (Mentioned peoples instead of people as that’s how she is speaks her baby words for her age)

My heart broke when my 4 yr old daughter who is an American by birth with Indian roots asked this deep question.

I explained to her. Fondly known as Mother India, India is a land of woman with beauty, brains and valor from olden days till now. Be it our legendary warrior women from history or the fact that India is the nation which has won the most number of coveted Miss World Titles, 6 times thus far. India is the second most populated nation with billion people in the World. It’s the nation with largest democracy in the World. India is a nation of vast number  religions, color, languages, culture, heritage, beliefs and stays united as one nation amidst its vast diversity.

Yet the shocking question still remains,

Why Disney has not introduced  an Indian Princess till date to be a part of the existing Princess Line Up which includes princess of varying races but for one from India, the land that embraces diversity to its zenith. Indian woman build a family, a nation, organizations, environment and a peaceful society.

Is having a Indian princess in Disney line up going make a difference?

Yes, it certainly will as it’s important to teach them young. Make a difference in how the next generation can begin to learn and embrace about other ethnicities. And I wish for my daughter while she learns about the greatness of the other princess and their ethnicity I wish for her to also be proud of her culture and heritage no matter what part of the World she is in or from. I wish for her and many other Indian children or children with Indian roots to learn about the sacrifices, the strength, patience and endurance we Indian woman overcome since ages till date. We would also wish for other ethnicity children to learn and embrace our culture so we are more accepted, recognized and not discriminated by color or economic status of our nation. Jai Hind.
