Free Radical Games, Finish Star Wars : Battlefront III
I am going to start off by saying EA Star Wars : Battlefront is not the game that we have been waiting a whole 10 years of our life for. It lacks what the older Battlefront games excelled in, fun. I picked up this game for my friend and we played it at his house, I saw and played a total of 3 hours and I haven't bothered to play since.
What EA Star Wars : Battlefront more specifically lacks is a large list of features. Features that the old Battlefronts have that EA's lacks : space battles, fully pilot-able vehicles, two eras (Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War,) immersive single player battles against AI, campaign mode, more than 4 measly planets, more than 1 game mode that is actually fun, Battlefront II had many more than 6 heroes and they were actually fun to use, and a character classes system.
Free Radical's : Battlefront III had all these things and improved upon them. Space battles weren't singled out to space, Free Radical took the extra step and allowed you to fight in either space or land in the same match. Flying in and out of the atmosphere while battles rage both terrestrially and extra-terrestrially. There was a fleshed-out campaign (based on what I saw in the gameplay trailer.) An excessive amount of heroes, an excessive amount of planets, an excessive amount of vehicles for each team for each era (wherein the only team on EA Battlefront that has any sort of ground vehicles is the Empire, how boring.)
The only advantage EA Battlefront (reboot) has over the original series is the superior graphics. However, as seen with the stellar success that Fallout 4 was, graphics don't entirely matter when it comes to engaging gameplay. Yes, the graphics and sounds (excluding the voice acting) for EA Battlefront are dazzling as can be, the game itself gets boring in a matter of a few hours. I bought my friend the game brand new, we went to his house and played it. We leveled up a few times, I then decided I didn't want to buy the game for myself, and wanted to go home and play Fallout. It's a shame that to this day I still play Star Wars : Battlefront 1 & 2 (10 years later,) but can't find myself enjoying this new one a few mere hours into playing.
The premise of this petition is, we as original Star Wars : Battlefront fans want a Battlefront game that is true to the originals, while improving upon them, and that is exactly what the cancelled Battlefront III by Free Radical Games did in 2008. It was an amazing game, as opposed to EA's 'graphics over gameplay' version that is planned to be fleshed out into DLC. If Disney were to reemploy Free Radical Games to finish this seemingly masterpiece of a game, the amount of profit I predict will dwarf that of EA's game.
