The well-loved Splash Mountain ride is based on the movie Song of the South. The movie is highly problematic and focuses on the "idyllic plantation" trope which glorifies slavery, uses the offensive "magical negro" character trope, and is based on books by a white man who stole the stories from slaves on his family's plantation.

Besides the problematic racist history of Splash Mountain, it is an outdated ride, and most people cannot connect with the characters as Song of the South is generally unavailable.

Moana is a beautiful film that children everywhere, and of all cultures, connect with. 

There is similar structure between the concept art for Motunui and Splash Mountain.
There are many opportunities to make the ride visually striking as well as fun, while keeping the same ride elements, but changing the "face" and interior of it.

We call on the Walt Disney Company to correct past racism and stop furthering new generations' interest in it by changing all Splash Mountain rides to Moana-themed rides.
