The Issue

Pixie Hollow was a website where girls and boys could create their own fairies or sparrowmen, choose their own talents, enjoy activities, and play games with others from around the globe. For many of us, it was a big part of our childhood. We would beg our parents for memberships so that we could buy the most fashionable and exclusive clothes, and spend hours playing ‘Crazy Cakes’ at parties hosted by our online friends. It was so magical to be a part of the land of the fairies, and be able to have special powers like controlling water or talking to animals!

The Disney Fairy franchise has so much life in it left to give, and a complex world where many adventures can still be had shouldn’t be shoved to the side and left behind. It holds much nostalgia for those of us who were kids in the 2000’s, and I’m sure would be loved by kids now! What else do we have to do being stuck at home all day? I think that a big part of the appeal of Pixie Hollow was the customizable-ness of the game. When you create a fairy, you have a large variety of skin tones, eye color, hair styles, face shapes, and clothing to choose from. Everyone can feel represented in this game! You also get a house to decorate when you choose a talent. Water fairies get a house with a small river in them, animal fairies get a cozy, den-like home, etc. In my opinion, this was a very fun aspect of the game!

There are also so many mini-games and activities that you can do within the game. You can play Harvest Hustle, or Bubble Bounce, and collect free items from Vidia’s Daily Spin. Others may prefer to wander about the different seasons and admire their beautiful locations, like Acorn Summit, with its brilliant autumn colors, or Treetop Bend, with its bright Cherryblossom trees. The overall main goal of the game is to gain talent points to be a higher talent level. You do this through quests, which can be given to you by a mentor fairy and by famous fairies from the films and books like Tinkerbell and Silvermist. I’m sure that many will enjoy seeing and interacting with their favorite fairies. Overall, I hope that those of you who loved this game like I did and want to see it saved will consider signing this petition, and that those who have yet to explore and get to know the land of Pixie Hollow will as well!
